This was to be my first trip to RAF Waddington. When I have visited other airshows, I have always taken 35mm or medium format cameras to record the day. This time, I decided to only take one digital camera.... no back-up film camera at all.... I took the Ricoh RDC i-500 with a 1Gb IBM Microdrive.I got into my car in Stoke-on-Trent at 6:31 am and parked up inside the airbase at 8:31 am, just after the gates had opened. The display was to start at 10 am and I presumed that I had given myself enough time to check out the static aircraft and the trade stands before the show started.
My first job was to get a few shots of the 'choppers' as I went along the static display. It soon became apparent that this was really a show that needed 2 days to see everything!!After a quick visit to see 'proma1' at the Stewart Aviation stand (and a little book purchase!) I was back on my 'static display' route...
